Helga's Story

Some clients become part of your story as much as you become part of theirs.

Helga emailed me nine days before she was due to fly to Nice. She was terrified. She'd been living with anxiety for over thirty years, since a Glastonbury festival in 1990 that went badly wrong and never quite let her go.

She had tried, by her own reckoning, 42 different treatments.

She was determined, brilliant, and exhausted.

using The CONTROL System, we had our three sessions before Nice.

The rest, as Helga says, is history.

This is how she tells it in her book:

"This woman was heaven-sent... I arranged to have three sessions prior to Nice. The rest is history. I properly relaxed and actually enjoyed a family holiday abroad, for the very first time since my Glastonbury meltdown of 1990. She has since helped me with other issues, sometimes more as a security blanket, as I have slowly found my feet after years of anxiety, but she has helped me nonetheless. I am beyond grateful."

and this is what Helga wrote about working with me in a testimonial:

'Working with Nix. In a nutshell? Transformative. She has the ability to effortlessly guide you to uncover your own resilience – that part of you that is already willing and able to take on the challenge you are trying to resolve. She is kind, relaxed yet highly attuned and will quickly get to the root of the issues that are holding you back. There may be tears, there may be unleashing of emotion but always in a safe way that brings you results. I have tried a LOT of therapies. The results have been mixed. Nix is one of the few people I would boldly claim can genuinely move you towards to your goal. To achieve your dream, you do have to put in the work (well show up and be open to the process) but once you have committed to moving forward, the rest is a wonderful unravelling. You find yourself doing ‘the impossible’ sometimes, without even noticing quite what you have achieved. The obstacles somehow become effortless, and dare I say it, you can even ‘forget’ why they were so hard in the first place. I have done so many ‘wildest dreams’ things now, and my life has changed beyond belief (even beyond my creaky memory – as we have had sessions where she has read my own words back to me, and I honestly cannot believe that I was ever in such a fearful place). I like her authenticity. She is not one of those the therapists that says ‘I will fix you’. She just enables you to tap into your own innate capability. To re-unite you with the ‘real you’, the one before you became trapped under all those layers of challenge. I am truly grateful to have worked with her. If I have a big wobble in life and it’s something I feel I need a helping hand with, she’s the first person I pick up the phone to. She is genuine, professional, super smart and actually cares about you and your long-term wellbeing. If you are reading this, I can promise you, you have found your answer'.

Helga went on to write the book she always had in her. It is raw, funny, deeply honest, and genuinely one of the best accounts of living with and through anxiety that I have ever read.

I am honoured to be a small part in her story.
