THE QUESTIONS

I'm scared of being in a trance. What if I don't wake up?

The CONTROL System doesn't use trance at all — so if that's your concern, we simply won't go there.

For Solution Focused Hypnotherapy, trance is actually a completely natural state that we all move in and out of every day — when driving, watching television, gardening, daydreaming. It happens about once every seven minutes whether we intend it or not.

In sessions I use a very light trance state, which is now thought to be the most effective for deep and lasting change. And if you needed to come out of it at any point, you would — instantly and completely. You are always in control.

I have a spider phobia. Will you make me touch a spider?

Not at all. Ever.

We work gently and at your pace. When working with specific phobias you are in control of the process at all times. There is nothing scary, nothing surprising, and nothing you haven't agreed to.

Will you make me do stupid things?

 

Never. This is not stage hypnosis.

We work together at a pace that feels right for you. At no point will I make you feel uncomfortable, foolish, or exposed. If you didn't want to enter a hypnotic state there is no way I could or would 'make you'.

Here's something interesting about how this actually works — the human brain is hard-wired to resist change. So to create real change, we have to work with that resistance rather than against it. We sneak in, quietly, under the radar, by being gentle and focusing on what you want rather than what's wrong.

That's why it works when other things perhaps haven't.

What sort of things can you help me with?

The short answer — most things.

Both the CONTROL System and Solution Focused Hypnotherapy are especially effective for:

  • Anxiety, panic attacks, and overwhelm

  • Depression and low mood

  • Confidence and self-esteem

  • Phobias — flying, spiders, water, public speaking, and more

  • Agoraphobia

  • IBS and stress-related physical symptoms

  • Painful memories and traumatic experiences

  • Weight and relationship with food

  • Addiction

I also work with athletes and performers who want to perform at their absolute best — hypnotherapy is remarkably effective for elite performance coaching.

I don't work with smoking cessation. If you're not sure whether I can help with something specific, just get in touch and ask. I'll always be honest with you.

Do you work online?

Yes — I work solely online, which means I can work with you wherever you are in the world.

This began during lockdown and has proven to be just as effective as working in person — often more so, because you're in your own space, completely comfortable, with no travel and no waiting rooms.

All we need is a good internet connection and somewhere you can sit or lie down undisturbed for an hour.

How do you measure whether it's working?

You set the parameters. You decide what success looks like for you.

We track your progress in every session — so you can actually see the changes as they happen,

not just feel them.

Most clients notice a significant shift within the first few sessions. Some notice it sooner.

How do I pay?

Direct bank transfer please.

What happens in the initial consultation?

Our first consultation usually lasts about 60 minutes and is free.

I'll take a case history and we'll talk a little more in depth about what you would like to do differently in your life.
I'll also tell you a little about the way I work.
At the end of the session we'll explore some hypnosis techniques together to see what works best for you,
and at the end of the session we'll decide the best way forward,
